The Museum of the Basilica

On the upper floor, you can continue your visit to the Museum of the Basilica, which houses a vast collection of sacred art, liturgical artifacts, and ancient relics. Here you can admire precious artifacts in gold, silver, and ivory, along with paintings and sculptures by great Venetian masters. The Museum of the Basilica offers a fascinating overview of Venice's history and spirituality through its works of art and religious treasures.

The Museum of the Basilica was founded in the 19th century to preserve and enhance the works of art and treasures of St. Mark's Basilica. Over the years, the museum has become a reference point for enthusiasts of sacred art and for visitors wishing to deepen their knowledge of Venice's history and culture.

Near the entrance to the terraces, you can admire the original quadriga, as the one displayed outside is a copy. It was also looted from Constantinople during the Fourth Crusade.
